BEHIND THE BRAND
I'm Malaika, the architectural designer-turned-jewellery designer behind CHALK, a London-based design studio. My passion lies in exquisitely crafted design in all its forms—whether it's the grandeur of sprawling cityscapes or the intricate details of fine jewellery, I find beauty in the everyday.
I founded Chalk in 2010 while studying architecture at Greenwich University. At the time, I never imagined that these two creative worlds would collide in such a playful and rewarding way. What began as an experiment has evolved into a full-time practice that I absolutely love.
Today, I focus solely on jewellery, though I still take on small architectural commissions when exciting opportunities arise. From the spark of an idea in the design phase to the final handcrafted piece, I find joy in every step of the process. It truly is a wonderful job.

My journey into jewellery design didn’t follow the traditional path, which I believe brings a distinctive quality to my pieces. Inspired by my architectural background and a love for the vibrant patterns found in diverse cultures worldwide, I create collections that are truly unique.
Each piece is a labour of love, meticulously crafted to balance form and function. I want my designs to not only be worn but to evoke joy and confidence, adding a bold and unique touch to your personal style.

ARCO STUDIO
In 2019, I began experimenting with three-dimensional forms in sterling silver, which led to the creation of ARCO STUDIO—a branch of my practice dedicated to sculptural, heirloom-inspired pieces. Since recently becoming a mother, the idea of creating timeless objects to pass down has taken on a much deeper personal meaning. Through ARCO STUDIO, I explore the emotional and generational power of jewellery as modern heirlooms.
